Poor Brandon Knight. When he’s not playing the role of punching bag in other players’ highlight reels, the equally cruel blooper reel is just waiting to swoop in. Thanks to two posters — one of the ankle-breaking variety, one of the Lob City variety — which have garnered countless millions of YouTube views, the Detroit Pistons guard was already having a nightmarish sophomore season. On Wednesday night, things only got worse.
Late in the Pistons’ 98-93 loss to the Boston Celtics, Knight broke free for an uncontested layup that would have pulled the Pistons within one point, and made the home team sweat a little over their not-yet-locked-up 7-seed in the Eastern Conference standings. Alas, he hit the highlight (lowlight?) reel trifecta by virtue of botching the gimme, which leads to the obvious question: do we really have to play these last seven games? Or, at the very least, does Brandon Knight have to play these last seven games?
