The Kansas City Chiefs have been on one heck of a roll as of late, winning back-to-back Super Bowl championships in the last two years. And it sure looks like they have no plans of letting up, as they ensured that one valuable member of their team will be staying in Kansas City for quite some time.

Star tight end Travis Kelce has been essential to the Chiefs’ success over the years, serving as the No. 1 receiving option for Patrick Mahomes for the entirety of his career.

But at 34 years of age, there have certainly been concerns from Chiefs fans as to how much longer he will decide to play in the NFL.

Especially because of all of the publicity and fame that Kelce now has going for him off the field, not only with his podcast, but also with his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

But on Monday, Kelce put all of those worries to bed, signing a two-year contract extension with the Chiefs that will now make him the highest-paid tight end in football.

The extension is worth $34.25 million and includes $17 million fully guaranteed this year and most of next year guaranteed on day 3 of the league year in mid-March.

Hours after the deal became official, Kelce spoke to Chiefs fans,

“Back at it again,” said Kelce in a video posted on the Chiefs Twitter/X account. “Feels good to be in KC! I remember coming here 12 years ago. Man, it’s an honor and a pleasure. And I can’t wait to get after it for these next two years. Getting fired up for this year! We’re back at it baby! Chiefs forever!”

That last sentence from Kelce should speak volumes. This contract extension likely means that Kelce plans on finishing out his career in Kansas City where it began, which only seems right considering all he has meant to the organization.
