Taylor Swift Super Bowl Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Travis Kelce was just given a new contract from the Kansas City Chiefs that made him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. And while that’s great news for him, some are suggesting that it’s a sign that Taylor Swift isn’t so dedicated to her Kansas City Chiefs fandom.

Given that the NFL has a salary cap and teams can only spend a limited amount of money on their player contracts, Travis Kelce earning a massive salary will prevent the team from signing other talented players that could help the Chiefs win another Super Bowl. And since Taylor Swift is a billionaire, Big Cat and PFT Commenter of Barstool Sports thinks she could have done something about that.

During the most recent episode of their Pardon My Take podcast, Big Cat and PFT Commenter suggested that she should have told Kelce to take a smaller contract to help the team since the couple doesn’t have to worry about money.

“I’m just saying, he could take less money knowing that if he gets married to Taylor Swift, money will never be an issue for him,” Big Cat said.

“If Taylor Swift was as big of a Chiefs fan as she pretends to be on Sunday, she would realize for the good of the franchise that she would not do a prenup for Travis Kelce, therefore letting Travis Kelce sign great value contracts with the Chiefs and extending their championship window,” PFT Commenter said.

“It sounds like she hates the Chiefs,” he continued.

“If she was a true Chiefs fan, she would be like ‘Hey Travis, take the league minimum and let’s go win another championship,” Big Cat replied.

“It sounds like she’s only about her personal engagement ring and not a Super Bowl ring,” PFT Commenter said. “That’s what it sounds like to me.”

Obviously, this criticism led to a lot of reactions on social media.

This wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity partner allowed an NFL player to take smaller contracts to help the team. When Tom Brady was married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen, he routinely took smaller contracts to help the Patriots. But it doesn’t seem like that’s what Kelce is doing.
