The Ohio State Buckeyes were already arguably the most talented team in the entire country entering the 2024 college football season, and they just added another talented player who will provide some important depth for the team.

On Friday morning South Carolina Gamecocks transfer safety Keenan Nelson Jr. announced that he has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes for the upcoming 2024 college football season. He joins the team after two seasons at South Carolina where he appeared in 15 games and made four starts across two seasons, recording 13 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup.

This is a pretty significant addition for the Buckeyes as they were very much in need of depth at the safety position following the departure of veteran safety Ja’Had Carter. While Nelson is not expected to start this upcoming season with Caleb Downs, Lathan Ransom and Jordan Hancock filling Ohio State’s starting spots, he is expected to have a rotational role this season and will have a chance to earn a starting spot next season.

Needless to say, this is a big pickup for the Buckeyes, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

It will be interesting to see how his career plays out at Ohio State.
