Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

On Friday at midnight, pop sensation Taylor Swift officially released her new album The Tortured Poets Department and one of the songs is quite clearly about her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his recent Super Bowl championship with the Kansas City Chiefs.

While a few songs on the new Taylor Swift album could be a reference to Travis Kelce with their romantic lyrics, Swift’s new song “The Alchemy” very clearly references the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the recent victory in Super Bowl LVIII, particularly in the bridge of the song:

“Shirts off, and your friends lift you up, over their heads
Beer stickin’ to the floor, cheers chanted ’cause they said
‘There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league’
Where’s the trophy? He just comes, running over to me”

The references continue in the chorus:

“Touch down
Call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown
Baby, I’m the one to be
‘Cause the sign on your heart
Said it’s still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”

The football references are quite clear and it sure didn’t take long for Swifties and football fans to pick up on the references as the song quickly went viral on social media.

If Swift and Kelce continue their romance, it’s pretty clear that she will write many more songs about him and the relationship.
