Alex Ovechkin is one of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history, who had a fantastic 2017-2018 regular season. The Washington Capitals sniper won the Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy, leading the league with 49 goals. So, was he perturbed he didn’t hit 50 goals?

For the man who’s scored more than 600 goals in his 13 NHL seasons, not hitting the mark probably doesn’t matter all that much. Would it have been cool to hit the 50 mark? Absolutely. But, for Ovechkin, I’m sure he’s much more concerned about breaking the Capitals playoff jinx and scoring a big one when it ultimately matters.

Plus, he’s got the hardware as the league’s top-scorer. Who cares about the tidy number? He’s still the best.
