Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward has bought a rather beautiful new home in Rancho Santa Fe, California for $3.35 million.
The house comes with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, including “his and hers bathrooms and dressing rooms.” However, the main attractions may be the outside amenities. In addition to a detached guesthouse, the property comes with a pretty awesome pool, spa, outdoor lounge area, a fireplace and a full-size lighted tennis court.
The fact that Hayward would want a house with a tennis court, and not an outdoor basketball court, may seem surprising at first glance, but tennis has long been a second passion of Hayward’s. In high school, Hayward was one of Indiana’s top tennis prospects. According to his official website, Gordon once dreamed of going pro as a tennis player.
Gordon and his twin sister, Heather, both starred at tennis. He and his sister were a fantastic mixed doubles pair, and Gordon began to dream of winning the state singles title and perhaps earning a collegiate scholarship in tennis.
Knowing the rigors that most tennis stars go through to make it to the pinnacle of the sport, Gordon considered abandoning his dream of playing basketball altogether—but mom wouldn’t allow it.
Considering how Hayward’s basketball career turned out, he chose his professional sport wisely. Still, it definitely looks like his passion for tennis hasn’t lessened judging by his new home.
