The Houston Astros lost in stunning fashion to the Kansas City Royals on Monday by a score of 9-6 and Texas Governor Greg Abbott is taking some heat for the team’s loss.
After seven innings of play, the Astros were seemingly in control of the game, leading 6-2. With such a sizable lead, the Twitter account for the Office of Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the Astros for “advancing to the ALCS.”

Of course, the Royals would storm back and score seven unanswered runs to win the game and force a Game 5.
The gaffe was quickly deleted but not before it was screen-grabbed by the internet. Needless to say, people began flooding the Governor’s Twitter with mentions of the Astros and Royals:
The Twitter backlash must have been fierce as the Governor then went on his personal Twitter account and literally begged people to unfollow his office’s Twitter account and follow his personal one instead. Some poor social media intern at the Governor’s office is going to hear about this one.
Hey @Astros fans. Unfollow –> @GovAbbott. Follow the REAL Greg Abbott right here. No predictions. Just support.

Basically, it hasn’t been a good day for the Astros or Greg Abbott.
