Well, we have confirmation. Stephen Curry can miss a shot when he’s catapulting a basketball with one hand from Oracle Arena’s tunnel.

According to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury, the tunnel shot is a regular part of Curry’s pregame routine although the long distance heave is usually done on Curry’s own basket rather than that of the opponent’s.

Here’s what Kawakami noted about Curry’s tunnel shots from a feature he did earlier this year :

Then the session ended with five attempts and five misses from halfway inside the Oracle tunnel on passes from courtside security guard Curtis Jones; and those were the shots that Curry recounted with the most animation.

As if it was another part of the game. His game.

“I didn’t do it every single game until last year; but it won’t stop now,” Curry said, noting that he has made about 20 of them in 36 home games so far this season.

After Monday’s video went viral, Kawakami noted that he has not seen Curry make a tunnel shot like the one posted above. Yet.

Curry just missed this full-court Tunnel Shot, banking it off the side rim, nearly in. I don’t believe he has ever made one of these from the opposite end of the court, which only happens when the opponent makes the teams switch sides to start the game, which New Orleans always does.

I’m still not sure if Steph is human and stuff like this isn’t helping matters. My money is still on Steph being a basketball-specializing cyborg and this miss is just its small way of throwing all of us off his trail.
