You know you’re in bad shape when Mark Sanchez doesn’t even want to start for your team and instead favors being a backup to the 25-year-old Nick Foles. According to USA Today, there is “no chance” Mark Sanchez would want to leave Philadelphia to reunite with Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in St. Louis.

In case you missed it, Rams starting quarterback Sam Bradford tore his ACL over the weekend. Because he’ll miss the season and because the Rams are looking at situation in which Shaun Hill is their starting quarterback for 16 games this season, people have made the obvious prediction that the Rams will look to trade for a quarterback around the league.

The first candidate? Mark Sanchez. After all, Sanchez was coached — in his best years — by Schottenheimer in New York. But after their hot start together, the two fizzled out and Schottenheimer was let go. Eventually, Sanchez was too.

Now, Schottenheimer will be tasked with getting 34-year-old Shaun Hill playing up to a competitive level. And Sanchez will have to get used to spending time on the bench. Though, if he’s lucky, Chip Kelly might let him be one of his sign guys.
