Isaiah Austin’s lifelong dream was to play in the NBA, a dream that was crushed last week when he found out that he had been diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome – a rare genetic disease that will prevent him from ever playing professional basketball.

On Thursday night, Adam Silver and the NBA honored Austin and allowed a portion of his dream to come true when they announced that the league had selected him. The former Baylor center teared up as he walked across the stage to a standing ovation, creating an amazing moment for everyone.

Great job by the league to give the kid his moment.
