Buffalo Bills v Miami DolphinsIn one of the more heart-warming decisions you will ever see, the owner of the Miami Dolphins announced on Tuesday that he will donate half of his entire wealth to charity. The move is not a small one either as Forbes lists Stephen Ross to be worth an estimated $4.4 billion as of March 2013. The 72 year-old Ross made the commitment as part of the ‘Giving Pledge’ which is a long-term charity which was founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. The Giving Pledge states on their website that it is ‘a commitment by the world’s wealthiest individuals and families to dedicate the majority of their wealth to philanthropy.’

Ross addressed his generous contributions in a statement:

“As a very young boy my uncle taught me a valuable lesson, the importance of giving back and using your impact and influence to make the world a better place. Although I have generally conducted my philanthropic efforts privately, I hope through publicly committing to the Giving Pledge that I will inspire others to commit to significant philanthropy the way my uncle inspired me.

I am delighted, grateful and honored to join this important effort in the hope that collectively we can leave the world a little better place than we found it.”

What a great example to set for the younger generation as well as others around the world who are lucky enough to be in a strong financial condition.
