The perpetual trolling of the Slam Dunk Contest continued Friday night when ESPN analyst Magic “The Dunk Contest Is Back!!!” Johnson announced he’d put up $1 million as an incentive for LeBron James to finally participate. The high stakes offer comes at a time when LeBron’s dunk contest trolling has reached an all-time high, both in the form of yet another tweet, and a string of post All-Star Weekend warmup dunks that have gone viral.
The dollar amount is ten times what the winner currently receives (second place gets $50,000 — no word on if that would change), so there’s more than enough incentive, in terms of cold hard cash. However, due to the fact LeBron has shown zero interest in participating in any All-Star Saturday events during his ten-year career, and because this conversation pops up every year after another lackluster contest (and nothing changes), we’re not holding our breath.
