The response to now-former Brooklyn Nets coach Avery Johnson’s firing exploded all over social media, especially considering Johnson was the reigning NBA Coach of the Month (November). The shot at Deron Williams is obviously a reference to the star point guard’s history of being the catalyst for firing head coaches — first Jerry Sloan in Utah, now Johnson — but Mr. Williams better be careful what he wishes for. If he had problems with Sloan and Johnson, wait until he gets a load of P.J. Carlesimo. Just ask Warriors and bummed out Sonics fans how the Carlesimo years (or just year, in Seattle’s case) went.
