UFC star Conor McGregor made headlines last week after getting into a “fight” with a mascot during the NBA Finals. However, there’s now a much darker story to emerge from McGregor’s appearance.
McGregor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman last week in Miami, per ESPN.
According to legal documents, McGregor “violently” forced himself on the woman inside a VIP men’s bathroom at Kaseya Center during Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. McGregor also allegedly “aggressively kissed her” and attempted to force her into various sexual acts.
A spokesperson for the Miami Police Department told ESPN that its special victims unit is investigating a report filed Sunday but did not provide any further information.
The alleged victim has accused the Miami Heat and NBA security of aiding McGregor by separating her from her friend and forcing her into the bathroom with him.
“Mr. McGregor will not be intimidated,” attorney Barbara Llanes said in a statement to ESPN in defense of her client, who denies the allegations.
Both the Heat and NBA acknowledged the woman’s allegations in statements.
“We are aware of the allegations and are conducting a full investigation,” the Heat said. “Pending the outcome of the investigation, we will withhold further comment.”
The NBA told ESPN it is working with the Heat to gather further information.
McGregor has been accused of sexual assault four times prior to this, though he has not faced any legal punishment.
