Despite planning to appear in federal court on Tuesday to be arraigned for allegedly mishandling and retaining classified materials after leaving the White House, Donald Trump still has big plans at one of his golf clubs.
Last week it was revealed that the twice-impeached former President of the United States became the first former President to be charged with federal crimes. The indictment, which was unsealed on Friday, charged Trump with 37 felony counts, including conspiracy to obstruct justice and lying to federal agents, all in service of classified documents that he took with him after his Presidency and refused to return to the U.S. government even after being subpoenaed.
Trump is currently running for President once again and had previously scheduled a fundraiser on Tuesday night at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. According to reports, that event is still going to happen, which means that he’ll need to travel fast following his arrangement to get back in time. Given that there will be a microphone and a room full of sympathetic faces there, he’ll have no lack of motivation in order to do so.
The fundraiser at the golf club is expected to include “a private candlelight dinner for backers who bundle at least $100,000.” Per Politico, lesser donors can still expect to get photo opportunities with Trump as well as a “VIP reception with elected officials & special guests.”
Per reports, Trump’s team expects to raise around $2 million on Tuesday night. Despite the mounting legal issues, the grift never stops.
