Charles Barkley isn’t afraid to roast his former team.

Barkley, who played four seasons with the Phoenix, being named league MVP in 1993 while leading the team to the NBA Finals, decided to have fun at the expense of the current Suns team. During Thursday’s NBA on TNT, Barkley pulled out his phone and expressed shock Phoenix led the Boston Celtics 11-3 in the first quarter.

“I don’t see that, that often.”

“It won’t last long America.”

Barkley’s assessment was bang on. Despite leading by 19 after the first quarter and 18 at the half, the Suns managed to blow the lead, allowing a last-second three-pointer to force overtime, before ultimately losing the game 116-109. With the loss, Phoenix fell to 2-9 on the season.

The Suns haven’t made the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons and there’s little hope they’ll end that run this year. Ultimately, Barkley wants to see the team succeed, but after seeing the Suns struggle for nearly a decade, he’s making some lighthearted jokes at their expense. He’s a Suns legend so he’s allowed to do exactly that.
