Charles Barkley thinks Kevin Durant is a “great kid,” but admits he shouldn’t take everything so personally.

The NBA on TNT host caught up with The Crossover, where he discussed Durant’s personality. Chuck called Durant “a really nice guy trying to be a bad guy,” who doesn’t need to respond to every criticism lobbed his way.

“Kevin Durant is just a really nice guy trying to be a bad guy,” Barkley said. “You can’t do that. It doesn’t work. He spends all his time trying to prove to people how tough and bad he is. He’s so worried about what other people say. Kevin Durant is a great player and a great kid. I was one of those guys who criticized him for going to Golden State, but he doesn’t have to respond every time someone says something about it.”

Barkley is bang on. Durant’s decision to go to Golden State was incredibly polarizing. The Golden State Warriors star made things much harder on himself when he creates fake burner accounts and responds to tweets from random fans criticizing him. If any NBAer needed to delete Twitter to repair their image, it would be KD. He’s done a lot of good but people are only focusing on what he tweets when it comes to his personality.

Listen to Chuck, KD. Shut up people by ballin’ out.
