Whenever it feels like 2017 is weird enough, another incident happens and it completely takes its spot.

The most recent news making headlines is the LiAngelo Ball saga which involves stolen goods in China and messy international relations. Ball, who plays basketball for UCLA was caught shoplifting with two other teammates and they were caught by authorities before their big game in the country.

Obviously, the trio didn’t play in the game and United States president Donald Trump got involved making sure that all three of the athletes made it home safe.

One staunch opponent of Trump, Al Sharpton, was impressed by the president’s ability to make sure that the three made it back to their home country. TMZ Sports caught up with the civil rights leader and Reverand to eagerly hear his take on the matter.

“I think that President Trump speaking to (President) Xi to make whatever arrangements were made … was good,” Sharpton said to TMZ Sports in New York. “He did the right thing.”

He didn’t go too far down the path of praising him, he also stated that “even a broke clock is right twice a day.” At least for a moment, the world came together and was happy for LiAngelo Ball’s return.

What a joyous time it was.
