aaaAnthony Davis of the Pelicans is one of the very bright spots for the NBA, and seemingly only injuries are holding him back thus far. It was announced last week that the young stud would be shut down for the rest of the season so he can undergo surgery on his left knee and a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The move to shut down Davis is a smart one, especially given that the Pelicans are a long-shot to make the playoffs.

This seems all fine and good, but one quote from Anthony Davis on Monday caught our eye. According to Justin Verrier, ESPN staff writer for the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis said that he has ‘played through a torn labrum for three years.’ We are no doctor, but this seems like a very unwise decision from the young man, and the Pelicans training staff.

The injury will also force Anthony Davis to not be able to compete in the Olympics in Rio, which is very unfortunate.

We wish the big fella a speedy recovery and a very long (injury-free) career in the NBA.
