Blair Walsh wasn’t the only reason why the Vikings blew a nine-point second-half lead to the Seahawks last Sunday. He was, however, the easiest target and goat after missing a 27-yard game-winning field goal in the final seconds, making him the subject of the fans’ violent wrath over the last few days.

From death threats to Twitter jabs, the fourth-year kicker was blasted for costing them a chance to play the Cardinals for a berth in NFC title game. A handful of first-graders at Northpoint Elementary in Blaine, Minn., were not among those criticizing Walsh, instead sending him adorable letters of support.

A fellow first-grader wrote the following:

Dear Blair Walsh. I know that it can be hard to get through things that are sad. but you have to try and try again. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. One time I made a mistake when I was doing a cartwheel. I felt embarrassed. You can still help the Vikings win the Super Bowl next year.
