The Dallas Cowboys have not won a game since they lost Tony Romo to a collarbone injury back in September.
Romo is now participating in Cowboys practices but he isn’t eligible to play in a game until November 22nd. In the meantime, the team is stuck with Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel. With neither option being that enticing, The Dallas Morning News recently asked WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin if he could man the Cowboys’ quarterback position until Romo returns from his injury.
Austin let the paper know that he could put up “300, 400 yards” on the Eagles.
“I tell you what, I got some time on my hands. I could be there Sunday, playing the Philadelphia Eagles. I think I can line ’em up, throw for about 300, 400 yards. Get (Jason) Witten open, get Dez (Bryant) working. A lot of underneath routes. Give (Darren) McFadden the ball a few times. Maybe do a little end-around, fake the reverse pitchout, let me run downfield and Darren can throw me the ball. About 60 yards out, catch it in full stride and boom, spike it over the damn goalpost. … Y’all saw me catch all those beers all those years — damn-near never dropped any of them. You know how much money I could have made playing professional football as a tight end? But I can’t jump and I can’t run fast. That was my problem.”
In Week 7, Matt Cassel threw for 227 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. In Week 8, Cassel completed 13 of 25 passes for 97 yards and no touchdowns. In other words, it might not hurt to give Stone Cold a call.
