Athletes’ legal issues have been making headlines for decades but the arrests of players have become significantly more scrutinized and controversial over the last 10-15 years, courtesy of the social media-driven transparency of EVERYTHING.
As a result, the entire world knows when an athlete is arrested, what they did, how they did it, who knew about it and what discipline was handed down because of it. Unfortunately there have been dozens of instances across sports in which the public can track each of those items and there is no exception in the NBA, including Hawks forward Mike Scott (above) last summer.
Here are the number of player arrests for each NBA team since 2000, with the Wizards leading the way with a whopping 15 arrests over the last 15-plus years (courtesy of Mike Rosenberg, who is a fantastic Twitter follow):
