The ESPY awards chose to honor Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for recently coming out as transgender, over late teenage basketball player Lauren Hill, who battled an inoperable brain tumor to achieve her goal of playing college basketball while also raising money for cancer research. Jenner had a lot to live up to as a recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
