Sports stadiums are becoming more complex and expensive. For example, the Miami Marlins spent $515 million on their ballpark which for some reason includes an aquarium on both sides of the backstop.

Much of Marlins Park’s unnecessary cost was paid with tax money, and “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver has a problem with owners demanding contributions from taxpayers for their new stadiums.

Oliver notes that between 2000 and 2010, $12 billion was spent on the 51 facilities built for professional teams. This was just one small piece of his 20-minute rant on the subject, which is certainly worth watching
