The Minnesota Twins are one of the most surprising teams in Major League Baseball this season and while a lot of skeptics are pointing to many average statistical numbers, supporters are pointing to improved clubhouse camaraderie and a new environment. Those contributing to that new environment include some youngsters but also veterans, including Torii Hunter, who returned to Minnesota on a one-year deal over the offseason.
Hunter has been fantastic at the plate but has also been lauded for his work with the team’s young talent and in changing the culture. He’s had a ton of help both on the offensive end and in the dugout from other veterans, including catcher Kurt Suzuki, who helped Torii rub the hell out of his lower butt/upper thigh during the first game of a doubleheader in Boston on Wednesday.
Hey, whatever they’re doing it appears to be working. They entered Thursday’s series finale sitting tied for first place in the AL Central and 10 games over .500.
