Carmelo AnthonyThe All-NBA teams were announced today, and, as with most NBA awards, there was a bit of tomfoolery among the voting populace. This time, it was Celtics broadcaster Cedric Maxwell, who cast a third team vote for Carmelo Anthony — his only vote across all ballots.

You’ll recall that Melo only played in 40 games this season before the sorry Knicks shut his ass down before mailing in the remainder of a 17-65 season. Also, Melo wasn’t exactly setting the league on fire prior to his perma-benching. His 24.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game were his lowest averages in those categories in three years. That drop off isn’t the difference between first team and third team — it’s the difference between third team and off the list entirely (Melo is a perennial third teamer, who has managed to finish on the second team twice).
