Woodstock is widely regarded as THE best festival to ever happen to music.  The August 1969 festival in upstate New York had an incredible lineup including Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead and so many more. No festival has come close to the cultural impact Woodstock 69 had on the world.  There was Woodstock 99 but that is widely regarded as the worst thing to happen to music. Just look at its Wikipedia page, the Problems section is bigger than any other section.

Times were different in 1969, tickets for the three day festival were only $18 in advance and $24 at the gates.  Yes, that is super cheap but in 2015 those prices would be closer to $120 and $150, which is still WAY cheaper than Coachella. With ticket prices the way they were one has to wonder how much each artist was paid for such a large scale multi-day festival.

Jimi Hendrix took home the most amount of money with $18,000, The Who got $6,250, and Santana got $750.  Those prices would be very different today with Hendrix taking home about $112,000 and Santana taking about $4,650. A prime time Hendrix costs $112,000 in 2015 and Arcade Fire costs $150,000.  Think about that.
