The San Francisco 49ers are having an interesting offseason. After closing out a frustrating 2014 season in which they finished 8-8 and snapped their 3-year NFC title game streak, the organization that had opposing fans drooling just a couple years ago is now being heavily questioned.
They dumped coach Jim Harbaugh and tapped little-known Jim Tomsula as his replacement and many began wondering if the once promising future is all that bright. This is seven months after opening a new stadium in Santa Clara and 14 months after that third-straight NFC title game appearance. The signing of former Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett appeared to be a good move considering the reasonable price, but they also signed troubled veteran wide receiver Jerome Simpson.
After not playing last season and having dealt with numerous legal issues over the last few years, it was an odd 2-year deal, especially for a team looking to rid itself of distractions. Unfortunately for Simpson, his owner is equally baffled.

Well, it’s always good to have the support of the owner…
York is referring to his general manager and 2011 Executive of the Year, Trent Baalke. While we can all agree it was a confusing acquisition, York’s comments will not make it any better.
