Randy Johnson may be most well-known for how he towered over the mound and scared the living daylights out of all those who had to face his fastball but he also has a love for photography which rivals the passion that he had for baseball.

The newly-elected Hall of Famer majored in photojournalism while he was pitching in college and his love of photography has not dissipated over the years. Since he retired from baseball, Johnson has taken his photojournalism skills all over the planet and he’s used his ability as a photographer to help out charities as well, per his website:

After retiring from 22 years in the major leagues, my photojournalist job no longer had to take a back seat.

Beginning with my first summer vacation in 26 years in 2010, I shot motorsports, concerts, people and places. I was privileged to take three USO trips, one to Iraq and Kuwait, another to Okinawa and the most recent to Italy, Afghanistan and Germany (God Bless Our Troops!). I’ve also been a contributing photographer for major media outlets with many photos featured in Spin Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Score Baseball Card Company and AOL Online.

Not only has photography allowed me to explore the world through my camera eye, it has allowed me to give back to charities and causes that are very close to me, homelessness being one of them. As much as I enjoyed the thrill of pitching a perfect game and winning a World Series, I get similar satisfaction from using my photography skills to help others.

Johnson has a lot of great work uploaded and you can check out his photography skills on his website as well as on his Twitter.
