In an overreaction that is only as predictable as fights between 49ers and Raiders fans were after Sunday’s game, some 49ers fans are burning Colin Kaepernick jerseys.

Kaepernick undoubtedly struggled against the Raiders defense. He went 18-33 in passing attempts with one touchdown against two interceptions. He was also sacked five times.

Kaepernick’s season stats are also disappointing. His passer rating of 85.1 would be a career-low if the season ended today. He’s already thrown more interceptions this year (10) than he threw all of last season (8).

And while there are plenty of other reasons why Kaepernick has struggled (his offensive line has played horribly in pass protection, giving up 43 sacks so far this year), when you’re the face of the franchise, you take the blunt of the criticism when things go wrong.

Losing to the Raiders is the definition of “when things go wrong.”
