Before Brian Mitchell was a television analyst for CSN Washington, he was an NFL safety who played for the Washington Redskins from 1990 (Mitchell’s rookie season) to 1999.

During his stay in Washington, Mitchell earned a Pro Bowl selection, three All-Pro selections, and a Super Bowl ring. He has been inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame and the Washington Redskins 70th Anniversary Team. He is one of Washington’s greatest players of all-time.

And he hates present day Washington Redskins football.

After the Redskins lost to the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 27-7, Mitchell snapped during a postgame segment on Sunday.

“And I see a lot of players blaming media and everybody else and running around as if they’ve won the damned Super Bowl somewhere. This team has sucked over the last few years and as a former player, I’m embarrassed to watch this junk over and over again.”

Mitchell made it a point to put the whole team on blast, not merely the performance of Robert Griffin III but Mitchell’s ire even spread to the Redskins fan base.

“This town. Stop expecting greatness when they haven’t given it to you. Start demanding greatness. You control what happens on that football team. Too many times we sit there and we kiss this team’s ass because we see the burgundy and gold person wearing it.”

The Redskins are currently 3-7 and sit at the bottom of the NFC East (along with the New York Giants).
