NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan may have won last Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers but his wallet is going to take a hit for the effort.

The fine is likely due to what happened at the end of the game. With the Jets lined up in the victory formation, Steelers safety Mike Mitchell leaped over the line in an attempt to cause a fumble, a move which didn’t please Ryan at all.

The offending phrase was apparently one giant “f–k you” to Mitchell and the Steelers.

Ryan’s anger at the Steelers in this instance is fully justified as forcing a fumble against a victory formation is nearly impossible and can lead to unnecessary injuries. Still, seeing as this is the third time that Ryan has been fined for profanity, he should probably know better by now. Save the “f–k you’s” for when the cameras aren’t around.
