Allen Iverson has not lost a step as far as his sense of humor goes. The Philadelphia 76ers legend was in an interview session with some reporters in the Philippines and his answers were as sharp as his crossovers were during his playing days.

The best draft class according to The Book of AI? 1996, no question. That was the draft class which included, surprise, Allen Iverson, as well as Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Stephon Marbury, Ray Allen, Peja Stojakovic and Marcus Camby. The only draft classes that may come close to 1996 in terms of sheer talent are the 2003 draft (the famous LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony draft) and the 1984 draft (Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, John Stockton).

The best moment came right after AI’s declaration that the ’96 draft class was the best. Iverson was asked if he ever thought about coaching a team and Iverson laughed off the question before responding with an absolutely amazing answer:

“I would never want to coach. We would never practice.”

Which, of course, is a reference to this immortal moment in press conference history:

Iverson was also asked what his top five players all-time were. He was forced to exclude himself so his reponse was actually fairly level-headed.

Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal are a pretty solid top-five (move Olajuwon to center and that’d pretty much be mine).
