Nebraska Cornhuskers

Remaining Schedule:

Saturday, October 25th – vs. Rutgers

Saturday, November 1st – vs. Purdue

Saturday, November 15th – at Wisconsin

Saturday, November 22nd – vs. Minnesota

Friday, November 28th – at Iowa

The Huskers were tabbed as a preseason dark horse by many but those predictions vanished after the stunning last-minute home win over McNeese State. Since then Heisman candidate Ameer Abdullah has helped Nebraska grab wins over Fresno State, Miami (FL) and Northwestern, but those won’t build a CFP resume.

Their only loss came at Michigan State (27-22) and they responded with the 38-17 shellacking in Evanston last weekend. While they could easily run the table and finish 11-1, where can they make a strong case? Wins over Rutgers and Purdue wouldn’t do it. Beating Wisconsin on the road would be nice, but not head-turning. A home win over a suddenly dangerous Minnesota squad would also be fun, but won’t slide them into the top ten, that is unless both teams win their next three. And finally a visit to Iowa City is more of a must-not-lose than a must-win.

Things would have fall perfect for Nebraska to slide in but there is certainly a chance, especially if Abdullah runs wild and they dominate the remaining five opponents.
