The Chicago Blackhawks held their home-opener this weekend and handily beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 to kick off what should be another promising season at the United Center. The players weren’t the only ones who impressed the locals in their home debut however, as the ‘Hawks arena ops crew showed that they put in some serious work in the offseason as well.

Prior to the opening puck drop, Chicago fans were treated to a brand new on-ice projection sequence that was pretty awesome. They’re not the first team to unveil such technology (and Montreal’s still reigns supreme) but their debut effort is definitely impressive and the fans seemed to enjoy it.

It’s a trend that seems to be sweeping hockey and, as long as teams continue to be creative with it, I’m very okay with that.
