NFL: Oakland Raiders at New England Patriots

His record as a head coach speaks for itself, so it’s no surprise that Dennis Allen has apparently been fired four weeks into the season after an embarrassing loss across the pond to the Miami Dolphins.

The Raiders’ horrible decade continues.

Although there’s no word on who will be replacing Allen in the interim, ProFootballTalk speculates that it’ll likely be Tony Sparano:

Allen won just eight games in just over two seasons as head coach of the Raiders. It would seem likely that Tony Sparano would take over as head coach on an interim basis.

On the one hand, it’s easy to write this off as typical Raiders. On the other hand, it’s become pretty clear that Allen hasn’t done much, if anything, to inspire much confidence during his tenure as head coach, even when one considers the drastic roster gutting that Oakland went through the past couple of seasons.
