After a screening of André’s upcoming Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is By My Side, 3000 answered a few questions regarding the movie and most notably – who would play him in an Outkast biopic.
“It would be great to make an Outkast movie right now, but instead of really serious, make it a full comedy — like Kevin Hart would play Big Boi,” he said of his rapping partner last night. And as himself? “We should cast somebody stupid — like Leonardo [DiCaprio].”
Obviously André was kidding with his answer but then went on to tell Rolling Stone more about an Outkast movie, and what it would be like to capture the chemistry he and Big Boi have.
“The chemistry that made Outkast was the balance,” the actor/rapper told Rolling Stone. “And honestly, Big’s a much sharper rapper than I am. If I was going to a battle, I’d definitely bet on him instead of me.”
Who knows, maybe André saw the video of Leo flawlessly performing A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario” and figured DiCaprio would be great in an Outkast movie. Most likely not.
The Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is By My Side, makes it’s debut September 26th. André went on to tell RS that he had lost 20 pounds for the role “because I am not a naturally skinny man.”
