Just last night, Landon Donovan scored the game-winning goal in the MLS All-Star game — a game that pitted the MLS All-Stars against European powerhouse Bayern Munich. But, today, Landon Donovan has announced that he is planning on retiring after the current MLS season.

It’s a sad day for American soccer fans. Donovan is the greatest player to ever represent the U.S. in international play. He’s the all-time leader in scoring and assists for the USMNT, scoring 57 goals for the USA and assisting on 58. Though he didn’t make the 2014 World Cup squad, he’ll always be cherished and remembered for this amazing World Cup moment:
