The numbers are in for last night’s ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ showing on SyFy, and the results are almost as absurd as the film itself. The made-for-TV movie set a new network record with a projected 3.9 million viewers for its premiere telecast. In addition, the film garnered 1 billion Twitter impressions during its airing.

SyFy should be be extremely pleased that their sequel’s draw blew the original’s right out of the water. The original ‘Sharknado’ telecast only drew 1.4 million viewers in its debut showing.

The good news out of all this? We’re all pretty much guaranteed a ‘Sharknado 3.’
