Ballet is fairly difficult to categorize. Is it a dance style? A sport? A theatrical art? The fact that ballet is often stereotyped as being for the dainty and faint-of-heart certainly doesn’t help its reputation, although films like Black Swan have definitely helped beat back the notion that ballet is for those with a delicate nature.

However, this Under Armour ad starring ballerina Misty Copeland may be the most effective argument that real ballet is only for the most hardcore of athletes. The amount of muscle control that is required for ballet is ridiculous and Under Armour made sure to highlight Copeland’s stunning physique and athleticism to drive that point home.
