Look at the photos above. Is that girl too attractive to play volleyball? Some people, including her own coach and teammates, seem to think so.
Her name is Sabina Altynbekova and she’s been gaining quite a following on the Kazakhstan volleyball circuit as of late, so much so that she’s become a distraction to her own her own team.
The player’s teammates and coach complained that Altynbekova was simply too attractive and was distracting fans. Kazakhstan’s coach Nurlan Sadikov went as far to say that some of the fans don’t even watch the games and instead just stare at Sabina.
“It is impossible to work like this,” he said. “The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship.” (via)
Altynbekova said she finds the attention flattering but wants to be known for her talent on the court, not for her looks.
Don’t get me wrong, she’s a very pretty girl…but this is pretty ridiculous. She’s not so good looking that I wouldn’t be able to play or watch a game of volleyball if she’s involved. If you ask me, sounds like everyone else is just a little jealous they’re not getting as much attention.
Who gives a shit if fans are only showing up to watch one player? Honestly, who gives a shit about the fans at all? It’s volleyball. Shut up, stop worrying about the crowd and focus on your opponent on the floor.
If they really think this is becoming a huge problem, maybe they should just hire Greg Focker to come in and rearrange Sabina’s face for them.
