Recently traded pitcher Jeff Samardzija will be forced to wear an NL jersey at the All-Star Game next week. After being dealt from the Cubs to the A’s one day before all-star rosters were announced, the dominating pitcher was left in a pickle.

After receiving hideous run-support with the Cubbies (Samardzija had zero wins in his first ten starts despite a microscopic 1.46 ERA),  and finishing his Chicago stint at 2-7 with a 2.83 ERA, he was moved to a first-place club that supports its pitchers better than any team.

“I won’t get to pitch, which is a bummer, but that’s all right,” Samardzija told USA Today Sports. “I’ll just go through whatever ceremonies they have and just jump over to the AL dugout with an NL jersey on and have some fun with the six other dudes we have over there, which is exciting.”

Samardzija won his first start with the new club on Sunday and figures to bolster an already loaded Oakland rotation.
