Even with the Canadiens down 3-2 in the series and needing a win to extend their season heading into last night’s Game 6, this show of support for the Habs by a Canadian bar is still a little bit too aggressive if you ask me.

The picture reportedly comes from a Cabo Cantina presumably located somewhere near Toronto (judging from the Maple Leafs flag hanging in the background) and shows a large Zdeno Chara doll hanging from the bar’s ceiling by a noose. The doll – with X’s for eyes and a frown on its face – also appears to have a bunch of arrows stuck in the chest area, because apparently the whole noose thing wasn’t enough to really drive home who they were rooting for.

Even as a Bruins supporter, I’m all for bars or other establishments finding funny and creative ways to show their support (yes, even if it’s for the Canadiens) but I would argue that this isn’t exactly either. While it’s not the most offensive display in the worst, I can certainly see how the whole noose aspect might rub people the wrong way. Not exactly tasteful.
