I haven’t seen a hit this hard, and directly aimed at the head in almost any sport. Check out this Aussie Rules match from earlier in the week in which Melbourne Demon’s Jack Viney absolutely eviscerated Adelaide’s Tom Lynch and not surprisingly Tom ended up in a broken jaw. Viney was suspended for two matches for this hit, but the suspension is currently being appealed by Viney’s team.
Jack’s comment on the situation was slightly comical:
I could’ve spun away if I had a bit more time I reckon . . . but there wasn’t enough time to think about a complex manoeuvre like spinning around.
Absolutely brutal.
