5. Jermaine Dye, Right Fielder, Chicago White Sox

Jermaine Dye had a very promising start to his career and very solid ending to it, but by 2005 he had become a veteran journeyman bouncing around between the Royals, Athletics and White Sox.

The 2005 World Series Champion White Sox were led by a dominant postseason rotation made up of Jose Contreras, Mark Buehrle, Jon Garland and Freddy Garcia, but it was Dye who was named MVP of the Series, after his RBI single in Game 4 completed Chicago’s sweep over the Houston Astros. Dye batted .438 for the Series to go along with a homer and three RBIs.

Picking up where he left off in October, Dye turned in a career year for the Chi Sox in 2006, finishing fifth in American League MVP balloting after slugging 44 home runs and knocking in 120 runs to go along with a .315 batting average.
