You want your football players to be explosive when they step onto the football field, not so much when they are in their apartments. Sunday night two Virginia Tech football players were arrested and charged with manufacturing and detonating an explosive device. Walk-ons Joshua Trimble, 20, and Brian Rody, 19, were the culprits and police had to respond to the 1600 block of Patrick Henry Drive at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to a report of an explosion near an occupied apartment, Blacksburg Lt. Steve Taylor said.

No one was injured in the incident and there is no information on what type of explosive device was used, according to the release.

Trimble and Rody were both released from Montgomery County Jail this morning on $2,500 secured bonds.
