This year’s Iron Bowl between the Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide is the biggest one since 1994 with unbeaten Auburn ranked at #2 and the Tide at #11 in the National standings. What makes this year’s installment even more interesting is the controversy surrounding college football’s best player, Auburn quarterback, Cam Newton.

As Newton walked out onto the field this afternoon, the Alabama student section threw customized fake money at Newton, while the songs “Take the Money and Run” and “Son of a Preacher Man” blared over the PA system.

In an equal showing of class, a week before today’s game, some Auburn fans taped a Cam Newton shirt over Alabama’s Bear Bryant statue which, in those parts, is equivalent to spray painting graffiti on the Statue of Liberty.

This is why we love college football.
