Eli Manning Plays Catch With Man City Players

Man City is in the States to play a couple friendlies against Chelsea, and also hit the press stops in support of their new MLS franchise. Along the way the City players stopped off at the Giants training facility for a little look at the ‘other football.’ Eli Manning was on hand to toss around the ball with Joe Hart and James Milner, who both looked spritely while running routes. Milner was greeted with a surprise defensive scare towards the end of the video, which probably reminded him why he is happy playing soccer.

Daniel Alfredsson’s Post-Game Comments Are Getting Blown Way Out Of Proportion

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a solid hockey team. They became even more solid when they stopped playing the sieve known as Marc-Andre Fleury after an abysmal first round against the New York Islanders.

The Ottawa Senators are a resilient bunch. Despite losing their best player, their second best player, and their third best player for much of the year the ‘Pesky’ Sens trudged into the playoffs.

This was especially meaningful for one Daniel Alfredsson, the Senators’ longtime captain. ‘Alfie’ has played his entire career in Ottawa and these could be his final games in the NHL. He is the most beloved Senator in the franchise’s history and the all-time leader in just about every category. At the 11:11 mark of every period, Senators fans chant his name.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the Senator captain tried to stir the pot a little bit after his team got blown out of their own building by the Penguins.

‘Alfie’ is the type of player who shows up every night with the same effort. He does his job, does it well, and expects the same from his teammates. He didn’t feel the Senators were very good in a 7-3 loss. He said that, the mercurial hockey media took it out of context and began one of their infamous witch hunts.

Here is what Alfredsson said, according to ProHockeyTalk:

When asked if the Senators would be able to overcome their 3-1 series deficit he said, “Probably not,” according to NHL.com correspondent Erin Nicks.

“They have too much depth,” Alfredsson admitted. Although he did add, “We don’t have much going for us right now. Maybe that’s the way we like it.”

The hockey world was expecting Alfredsson to give us the cliched “Yes, of course if we take it one game and one shift at a time.” Instead, we got a 40 year old lifer sounding off after his team just got creamed in what may be his last game at home.

A 3-1 deficit against a team with the two best players in the world is not an easy task. Alfredsson called out his team, acting on his duties as captain. If this was a 22-year-old rookie telling it like it is to the media it would be one thing, but Alfredsson has earned the right to say as he pleases and to get the most out of his teammates any way he can.

Pope Francis Now Has a Custom Celtics Jersey For Vatican Pick-Up Games

James Pallotta, who is president of the Italian soccer club A.S. Roma, made a visit to the Vatican on Wednesday in advance of his team’s Coppa Italia final this weekend against Lazio. During the trip he met with pope Francis and presented him with a jersey for his soccer club, but being that he is also a minority owner of the Celtics, he of course offered up a custom Celtics jersey as well. Pretty surreal and awesome images.

Does anybody actually use coins anymore?

For decades I’ve heard talk of “eliminating the penny.” Honestly I can’t believe that hasn’t happened yet. At this point dimes and nickels are basically useless as well. I have a pile of coins sitting on my kitchen counter that I try to get rid of whenever possible, but mostly the only thing I do with them is toss them in the tip jar when I’m buying a coffee or burrito or something. I don’t even feel good about it though, because why would the Dunkin’ Donuts guy want to carry that extra weight around any more that I do?

A friend of mine’s wife has been throwing her change in the trash for years, and I’m starting to agree with her. There is absolutely no need for any denomination less than a quarter anymore. What costs less than 25 cents anyway? Penny candy? Suck it up and buy 2 pieces of Chinese fortune bubble gum (remember that?) instead of just one.

My bar (and most bars/restaurants everywhere) has already made this transition; we only use quarters. No one ever cares if you just round every price to the nearest quarter. In fact, more often than not we round to the nearest dollar. Sometimes you round up, sometimes you round down. At the end of the night we’re always within a buck or two of where we should be; why can’t everyone do that?

The only reason I save quarters is for laundry, and it won’t be long before those machines all run on bills or credit cards. The parking meters on my street just recently converted to accept plastic. Even the guy who’s always standing outside the corner store on my block doesn’t even ask for “spare change,” he asks if you “have an extra dollar” when you walk by. Not to mention that half the population has already given up on using cash to begin with. Change is just dumb.

Wife Bites Husband’s Genitals Because He Made Her Leave The Rodeo Early

Anthony Hill took his wife, Christina Salinas, out for a night of fun at the Penn Valley Rodeo in California, but what happened later was anything but fun. Anthony wanted to leave, but Christina wanted to stay and dance at the rodeo. Christina became furious and once they returned home she grabbed two kitchen knives. Thankfully her ex-husband who strangely lives with the couple convinced her to put the knives down. Then Anthony attempted to drive away with Christina’s four children. That’s when things escalated quickly. Christina then chomped her husband’s hand and bit his penis. Despite suffering wounds on his hand and his junk, Anthony says he’s standing by his wife.

If this was Anthony’s first time at the rodeo, I bet you it will be his last.

MMA Fighter Honors Dead Grandma With Tattoo, Tattoo Artist Spells Her Name Backwards

MMA fighter Quinten Wyland from Oregon loves his grandmother just like any good boy should. His grandma Grace gave him strength and support before she passed away. To pay tribute to Grace he tattooed her name in cursive on his arm so he would always remember her. While shopping around Oregon City for a tattoo artist he bumped into James Langholz, a family friend, who just so happened to be a tattoo artist. However Langholz had only gotten his license about a week before, so the novice ink artist offered a huge discount to Wyland. For a mere $40 Langholz would etch “Grace” on to Wyland’s arm. The offer was just too good to pass up, so Wyland paid him and loved the sketch of the tattoo, which he decided to get it on his forearm. Unfortunately as the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for,” and the tattoo came out backwards from one viewpoint and it’s upside down from another. Wyland had no idea of the mistake until later that night when a friend pointed out the error. “I was just completely embarrassed,” Wyland confessed.

Wyland filed a complaint with the Oregon Health Licensing Agency, which oversees tattoo artists. However Langholz said Wyland approved the sketch and the tattoo is exactly what he wanted.

The embarrassed fighter tries to wear long sleeves and hopes to fix the errant ink before his next fight, but it will cost $400 to get a cover-up tattoo and at least twice as much to remove it with a laser.

“It wouldn’t be so bad if it was something else, I guess,” Wyland says. “It’d still be really bad, but for my grandma’s name, that’s the worst.”
