LiAngelo Ball always appeared confident about his chances at being drafted into the NBA, but a look back at his draft experience showed vulnerability from the much-talked-about former UCLA player.
As For The Win notes, Ball’s frustration was apparent after he injured his ankle during a workout with the Golden State Warriors. He admitted (on Ball’s Facebook show “Ball in the Family,”) to not knowing what team was going to pick him up.
“I’m not sure what team is picking me up,” LiAngelo said after an extended pause. “So, I’m just waiting right now.”
Eventually, Ball would go undrafted.
The 19-year-old had an outside chance at ever playing in the NBA, to begin with, but you have to imagine how frustrating it would be to get a chance to work out with the Warriors and then getting injured.
Ball, who played in his dad LaVar’s JBA league this season, probably won’t play in the NBA. However, that doesn’t mean that’s guaranteed. He should stay motivated, keep working on his game and prove he deserves another chance. Even though he’s a Ball, you’ve got to feel for him here.
